3rd Grade Teacher - Waukee Elementary

Position Criteria

• Valid Iowa teaching license, required
• Teacher-elementary classroom endorsement (K-6), required
• Reading endorsement, preferred

• Demonstrates an understanding of the elements of a PLC and an ability to effectively apply that understanding to a team situation.
• Solid understanding and proven application of the Waukee Framework for Meeting the Needs of All Students.
• A solid understanding of and experience in using multiple teaching methods: collaborating, co‑teaching, whole group/small group/individualized instruction.
• Commitment to differentiated instruction.
• Evidence of effective routines and procedures that lead to a positive classroom environment that promotes student achievement.
• Evidence of effective routines and procedures that lead to a positive classroom culture of respect and rapport.
• Desire for growth is evident through personal and professional goals and willingness to collaborate with instructional coach and building/district expects.
• Record of recent staff development/on‑going education and knowledge of current research.
• Understanding of formative assessment and evidence of using data to adapt to individual needs of students of all ability levels.
• Knowledge of various types of developmentally appropriate assessments of children.
• Understanding and experience with the workshop model and/or project based learning.
• Flexible, highly motivated, positive, and enthusiastic about working with children.
• Articulate in oral and written communications.
• Knowledge of and experience with using current technology to enhance learning.
• Experience with diverse learners:
  Special Education, ELP, ESL, etc.
• Full support and implementation of Positive Behavior Supports.
• Flexible, highly motivated, and enthusiastic about working with children.
• Knowledge of the 21st Century Skills and Universal Constructs and experience with ubiquitous integration of those competencies and habits of mind which may or may not be linked to The Leader in Me.
• Proven proactive and positive communication with parents and families.
• Knowledge of and experience with using current technology to enhance learning.
• Demonstrate an understanding of and ability to implement the Problem Solving Process and use data to support supplemental and/or intensive interventions.
