School Van Driver
Apply for the School Van Driver role at Warren Township High School.
Driver Requirements- Possess or be able to obtain a valid School Bus Permit as required by Illinois law.
- Complete a school bus driver physical (paid for by the district).
- Pass pre‑employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
- Pass state and federal background check.
- Attend annual school bus driver refresher class as required by Illinois law.
- Complete First Aid & CPR training (provided by the district).
- Be open to ongoing professional development.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Be comfortable securing small children in child safety securement systems.
- Operate the school van safely and effectively, minimizing injury risks.
- Dependable attendance is essential.
- Read and interpret safety rules, procedure manuals, and district transportation protocols.
- Maintain schedules and order on the van.
- Follow all district transportation protocols and procedures.
- Perform duties assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
- Ensure the van is safely stored.
- Work well with students, including those with special or severe disabilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work in varying weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
- Climb up to 3 feet high up to six times daily.
- Reach arm‑length distance multiple times daily; walk up to 30 minutes covering up to 100 feet.
- Sit five hours per day on a cushioned van seat while operating the van.
- Crawl from driver’s seat to side passenger sliding door in emergencies.
- Hear, speak, and see to exchange information and perform duties.
- Manipulate hands and fingers to operate the van; kneel, bend, and reach overhead and horizontally.
- Lift heavy children in and out of restricted spaces.
- District shirts provided; driver must provide khaki pants or shorts.
- No open‑toe shoes, sandals, or slides.
This position is for a 9‑month employee, with summer possibilities.
Education / ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required.
Reports toDirector of Transportation.
Work ScheduleMonday – Friday on student attendance days for 9 months; guaranteed 7 hours/day. Midday work available.

Starting Pay$26.79 per hour.
