Your Role in Synergy's Success
The Demand Planner owns the demand forecast used to drive the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process. This role translates customer orders, sales pipeline, historical trends, and market intelligence into a reliable demand signal that enables production planning, capacity planning, and procurement in a make-to-order manufacturing environment. The Demand Planner partners closely with Sales, Operations, Procurement and Finance to balance customer responsiveness, capacity constraints, and financial targets.
How You Will Contribute
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the rolling demand forecast (short-, mid-, and long-term horizons) for make-to-order products.
• Consolidate demand inputs including customer orders, sales pipeline, historical data, seasonality, and known events.
• Lead the Demand Review step of the S&OP cycle, preparing scenarios, assumptions, and risks.
• Collaborate with Sales to validate demand assumptions and challenge optimism or gaps.
• Translate forecast changes into clear implications for capacity, labor, and material planning.
• Track forecast accuracy, bias, and key demand metrics; identify root causes of variance.
• Document demand assumptions, constraints, and risks to support executive decision-making.
• Support new product introductions, customer ramps, and large project orders with tailored demand scenarios.
• Act as the single owner of the demand number used across planning, operations, and finance.
Qualifications &
Skills Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
• 5-7 years of experience in demand planning, production planning, or supply chain planning
• Supply Chain Certifications (Preferred, Not Required, e.g., CSCP)
• Experience specifically within a make-to-order manufacturing environment (preferred)
• Hands-on experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) Supply Chain Management, including MRP / Planning
• Experience supporting or leading the Demand Review as part of an S&OP or IBP
• Experience owning a rolling demand forecast used to drive production and capacity planning, including hands-on use of statistical forecasting methods
• Experience analyzing forecast accuracy, bias, and root-cause of variance
• Exposure to capacity constraints, lead-time management, and planning trade-offs
• Use of BI tools to build demand scenarios and executive-ready summaries
