Position Summary

The Assistant Store Director oversees daily store operations and provides leadership and direction to achieve profitable operation of the assigned retail store. The Assistant Store Director ensures that the goals of full, fresh, clean, and friendly are achieved and that a positive environment that engages and empowers all team members is maintained at store level. The Assistant Store Director is responsible for development of all direct reports, to include department team leaders and all store team members.

The Assistant Store Director is to continually grow the team's capacity for efficiency, effectiveness and service and meet the company's succession needs. This position is expected to be a role model of the company by driving results while maintaining company core values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Operational Excellence
  • Provide evidence of a proven track record of delivering excellent results, with persistence and commitment to exceed expectations.
  • Demonstrate care and compassion for people; show empathy and concern. Build and maintain positive team relationships and be approachable with diverse audiences.
  • Under the direction of the Store Director, guide Department Team Leaders to connect metrics to business processes and focus on continuous improvement strategies to achieve business results.
  • Partner with the Department Trainers to achieve results.
  • Ensure store operations comply with company, Federal, State, local regulatory safety, labor, workers compensation and health requirements.
  • Maintain all metrics on weekly operations.
  • Evaluate and adjust in-store processes (time, tools, MAP).
  • Clearly communicate and enforce standards for quality, cleanliness, organization, customer service, safety, loss prevention, sanitation, store conditions and food safety to all team members.
  • Continuously meet the expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Perform additional management duties as assigned.
Team Member Development
  • Assist Store Director in developing succession plans for all leadership positions within the store to meet company growth.
  • Recruit, select, orient, train, coach, counsel and develop the best Department Team Leaders to achieve store goals and ensure leadership talent.
  • Cultivate a culture of high performance and accountability. Set clear performance expectations for Department Team Leaders and follow up with timely performance evaluations and development.
  • Improve team member turnover and maintain turnover at company levels.
  • Embrace positive employee relations through consistent and fair application of company policies and leadership.
  • Provide advice and assistance to store teams to enable completion of tasks.
Leadership & Management Skills
  • Demonstrate proven leadership and the ability to motivate, inspire and create engagement. Exemplify the organization’s culture, values and philosophies (high ethics, integrity, trust, respect, loyalty and humility).
  • Manage stress and remain composed under pressure. Effectively cope with change and lead store-wide change initiatives. Be assertive when dealing with conflict and maintain responsibility for outcomes.
  • See things in a broad, strategic perspective; identify trends and future consequences. Develop improvement plans with the Store Director and leaders to ensure the store meets goals.
  • Provide translation of communication between the Store Support Center and store team.
  • Manage and administer a broad range of tasks including resolving complaints and counseling team members on policy interpretation.
  • Make recommendations to effectively resolve problems using sound judgment aligned with company standards, practices, policies, procedures and regulations; seek input from executives as needed.
