Compensation: $20.19 - 23.00 per hour, non-exempt

Reports to: Manager, Digital Arts and Technology Program
Location(s): Work from the Stockton Center four days out of the week and from the Modesto Center one day a week.
NOTE: Instructor roles are eligible for a hybrid work schedule after successful completion of their first 90 days of employment and only during off-season programming seasons.
JOB OVERVIEW:
Digital NEST is a workforce development center that has welcomed thousands of youth from working-class, farm worker communities to develop the technical and professional skills they need to achieve their dreams. It is an exciting time for the NEST. We are focused on growth and expansion to five communities across The Monterey Bay (MB) and San Joaquin Valley (SJV) Regions in Northern California.
Digital NEST has Centers in the heart of Watsonville, Salinas, Gilroy, Modesto, and Stockton.
The Digital Marketing Instructor will support the growth of the Digital Arts and Technology Program (DAT) by leading and collaborating on the development and implementation of the training for the Digital Marketing Programs. Overall, this position recruits, instructs, advises, mentors, and coaches members in technical and professional (soft) skills development for the Digital Arts and Technology Pathway.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Development and Delivery (60%)
- Plan and execute yearly programs for Digital Marketing in the DAT Pathway that can scale across all Digital NEST centers.
- Collaboratively create, develop and implement Digital Marketing curriculum in alignment with our bizz
NEST program and industry standards, alongside the DAT Team. - Continuously review, update, and revise curriculum materials to incorporate the latest industry trends, standards, and best practices.
- Facilitate training sessions that build foundational skills in Digital Marketing and prepare youth for careers in marketing.
- Lead low-barrier entry-level Marketing Clubs and workshops to introduce youth to the Digital Marketing concentration and spark interest in the DAT pathway.
- Develop proficiency in Digital NEST’s Professional Skills curriculum and teach these skills to DAT members and program participants.
- Coach and mentor youth with the goal of challenging, encouraging and supporting them in achieving paid, on-the-job trainee positions as interns in the bizz
NEST program. - Maintain accurate records of member progress and report on outcomes as required.
- Hold members accountable during training sessions by establishing behavioral standards and providing coaching and feedback aligned with the Professional Skills curriculum.
- Prepare rooms and equipment for classes, workshops, and other activities.
- Support Manager in monitoring industry trends and advancements to ensure curriculum remains cutting-edge, relevant to evolving job market demands, and aligned with larger programmatic goals.
Member Engagement and Recruitment (30%)
- Build relationships with teachers, counselors at high schools and community colleges, as well as community leaders, to identify potential members interested in DAT and Digital NEST Programs.
- Identify and cultivate prospective members for the Digital Marketing (DAT) program; maintain a student information system to track participation and engagement, and produce necessary reports.
- Collaborate with the HUB team and DAT Pathway team to design and execute youth outreach initiatives, including tabling events, classroom presentations, and other engagement opportunities.
- Actively participate in weekly HUB team meetings to strategize recruitment and member engagement, and help organize center engagement and recruitment events.
- Provide additional support to members outside regular programming hours to reinforce understanding and enhance engagement with Digital NEST.
- Offer essential youth development services to members, encompassing guidance, mentorship, and career advice, monitoring members status and wellbeing, sharing observations across program staff.
- Collaborate with other team members to coordinate and support the recruitment of DAT members, while assisting with broader recruitment efforts across other Digital NEST programs as needed.
Key Member of the Digital NEST Program Team (10%)
- Represent the Digital NEST in a professional, constructive and compelling manner to stakeholders at meetings, on social media, at public events and in media products or written publications.
- Provide general support to fundraising efforts expected of all staff: showcase members and member work, speak articulately about programming and be a model representative and evangelist for Digital NEST in the community.
