Dermatology Solutions Group, LLC) provides professional management services to Southern Dermatology Group, P.A. (SEDG), a medical practice headquartered in Panama City, Florida with locations throughout the Southeast. SEDG has a professional team of physicians who are trained in the medical and surgical sub‑specialty of dermatology.

Job Overview

Full‑time, hourly non‑exempt Medical Assistant roles within the Clinical department. This position reports directly to the Office Administrator and receives indirect supervision from Physicians, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and DSG Management.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure an excellent patient experience with all aspects of the practice and associated interactions, including phone, in‑person, and online.
  • Maintain accurate patient information in the health record by documenting notes throughout the visit; complete electronic notes on the same day.
  • Perform essential daily clinic duties, including:
    • Prepare patients for examination, escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room, documenting history, verifying medical and surgical histories, medications, and taking vital signs when applicable.
    • Review and complete required surgical documents prior to surgery, including recent test results and correspondence.
    • Consult with Medical Providers regarding incomplete patient tests or other pending orders.
    • Respond to patient communications and questions in a timely manner.
    • Prepare, clean, stock, and maintain exam and treatment rooms daily.
    • Cleans and sterilizes instruments and ensures appropriate equipment is ready for use.
    • Maintain clinical supplies and equipment necessary for daily clinic needs and patient care.
    • Ensure all consents are reviewed, initialed, signed, and dated before treatment.
    • Administer injections and assist with examinations and office procedures as needed.
    • Perform suture removals as directed.
    • Address all assigned telephone encounters daily.
    • Complete e‑prescriptions and medication requests within the same day or within 24 hours when possible.
    • Verify specimen information and enter tissue specimens into the log.
    • Triage and respond to patient communications, usually within the same day or within 24 hours.
    • Assist with scheduling tests and treatments and processing referrals.
    • Create, maintain, copy, scan, and file patient encounters and records in the electronic patient record.
    • Perform medication prior authorizations as necessary.
    • Abide by the Standards of Conduct and meet all compliance and training requirements.
    • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality.
    • Treat co‑workers, medical providers, patients, and visitors with dignity and respect at all times.
    • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
    • Able to travel to the main office and satellite locations, where applicable.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of medical practice operations and patient care standards.

  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions.
  • Ability to assist in a variety of common office procedures.
  • Ability to take vital signs, if applicable.
  • Ability to develop and maintain clinical quality assurance.
  • Ability to identify and proactively solve issues.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and record test results.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, co‑workers, and the public.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic and medical terminology.
  • Ability to work with electronic medical record technology as a primary documentation tool.
  • Proficiency in operating a computer keyboard.
Education & Experience
  • High school graduate or GED with current certification.
  • One year of medical experience in a physician’s office or equivalent training preferred; highly motivated new graduates will be trained.
  • Maintain professional certification, if applicable.
