Role OverviewAs an RAC Mobile Mechanic in the Service, Maintenance and Repair division, you'll bring expert vehicle maintenance and diagnostic skills directly to our customers wherever they are. From driveways to office car parks you deliver first‑class service without the constraints of a traditional garage.
Responsibilities- You're someone who gets people. This isn't just spanners and engines—our mechanics chat with customers on driveways, give advice, and represent the RAC with pride. You're not just in the RAC—you are the RAC.
- You like mixing things up. Every day is a little different: servicing, diagnostics, repairs and checks, plus stock management, reporting and maintaining customer conversations.
- You think on your feet and make the right call for each customer, tackling a variety of fixes, faces and challenges daily.
- Deliver vehicle maintenance and diagnostics directly to customers; operate your own RAC van, fuel card, uniform, essential tools and diagnostic kit.
- Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification (or equivalent).
- At least 3 years hands‑on experience as a vehicle technician working with a range of light vehicles.
- A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
- A competitive base salary of £38,625 with on‑target earnings up to £50,000.
- A guaranteed overtime option to increase the base to £44,385, plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities.
- 40 hours per week, core hours 8:30 am‑5 pm, and one Saturday in every four (Monday‑Saturday availability 8 am‑8 pm).
- 23 days holiday (rising to 25 with service), plus bank holidays.
