Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Maintenance Engineer responsible for undertaking planned and reactive maintenance of complex mechanical control systems across the diverse building services of the Trust estate.
Qualifications- Recognised time served apprenticeship, or City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering/Plumbing or BTEC (ONC) in Engineering or equivalent
- NVQ3 or above
With additional benefits such as RRP, overtime, call out and on-call payments, there is earning potential in excess of £40,000.
Main Duties- Undertake complex trade tasks within your specialist area in support of the Team's overall output.
- Support the other supervisor ensures the day to day efficient and safe working of all engineering plant on site.
- Attend plant breakdowns to carry out repairs and restore units to service as quickly and efficiently as possible.
- Prepare work to facilitate inspections carried out by the Trust's pressure vessel insurers.
- Activate changeover of plant and or its safe isolation in the event of a malfunction or breakdown.
- Work on all types of air‑conditioning plant and all types of pump, belt drives, pulleys and direct drive couplings.
- Carry out minor installation work of all types of pipe work and minor electrical work such as isolation/connection/disconnection of electrical supplies to all forms of mechanical plant.
- Diagnose and repair faults on complex mechanical services, engineering plant and equipment, deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.
- Carry out both installation repairs and planned preventative maintenance on heating systems, compressors, motors, pumps, heat recovery, ventilation systems and controls.
- Carry out statutory inspections and testing on mechanical services, engineering plant and equipment, and complete necessary documentation.
- Ensure safe isolation of mechanical and electrical services, medical gases and natural gas in emergency situations.
- Assist in the investigation of accidents and dangerous occurrences within the department.
- Carry out all work in accordance with the department's generic and non‑generic Risk Assessments as and when required.
- Use all relevant tools, machinery and equipment to comply with current Health & Safety Legislation.
- Provide emergency recall and undertake on‑call duties as part of the on‑call team to ensure that emergency repairs occurring out of normal hours are attended to.
- Work overtime to carry out emergency repairs as required by management.
- May involve shift working and planned overtime.
- Will involve on‑call responsibilities – you would need to be on site within 1 hour of call out.
- All staff required to undertake on‑call commitments must be able to make their own way to and from the required locations.

- Some post‑qualification experience in Mechanical services
