Job Description:

  • Create Monthly Accounts: Manage the monthly accounts, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and KPIs. This involves handling the sales ledger, purchase ledger, nominal ledger, and accounts reconciliation.
  • Month-End Processing: Process month-end journals, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Ensure monthly balance sheet reconciliations are completed and address any issues.
  • Discrepancy Analysis: Analyse and report on discrepancies, ensuring 100% accuracy and integrity of information for board meetings.
  • Budget Preparation: Prepare and reforecast budgets.
  • Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with HMRC and other regulatory bodies.
  • Audit Preparation: Assist in preparing for the annual external audit and liaise with auditors.
  • Cost Saving Initiatives: Assist with cost-saving and shared service initiatives.
  • Asset and Liability Monitoring: Monitor key assets and liabilities to drive improvements to the balance sheet and the business overall.
  • Monthly Reporting: Provide monthly reports to the FD and Managing Director, including suggested improvements on budget deviations.
  • Team Coordination: Work closely with and coordinate the accounts teams to ensure accurate, detailed, and coherent performance reporting.
  • Improvement Identification: Highlight areas for improvement in the above processes.
  • Cash Flow Management: Manage daily cash flow and inter-account transfers as required.
  • Ad-Hoc Reporting: Handle ad-hoc reporting both internally and externally.

Personal Attributes:

  • Effective Communicator: The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator with experience in Management and Financial Accounting. They must be proactive, lead by example, and support the accounting team as needed.
  • Development Opportunity: This is a full and varied role, offering the right candidate an opportunity to develop.
  • Technical Skills: Computer literate in all MS Office applications, with previous working knowledge in SAP being an advantage.
  • Relevant Experience: Relevant experience within a similar environment is essential.
