Senior Electrical Estimator (Highways)
Watford (Hybrid-working)
c £60,000 per year (+ Package)
The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to take ownership of tendering activity across highways electrical projects including street lighting, traffic signals, CMS/VMS, feeder pillars and associated infrastructure works.
This is a commercially focused role responsible for delivering accurate, competitive, and strategically aligned submissions within live infrastructure and framework environments.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates for highways electrical projects (£50k-£5m+)
- Review drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities
- Price works from first principles, including Design & Build schemes
- Build labour, plant, material, and subcontract cost models
- Lead supplier/subcontractor enquiries and quotation negotiations
- Manage tenders from enquiry through to submission and adjudication
- Conduct risk assessments and margin reviews
- Identify value engineering opportunities
- Provide structured handovers to delivery teams
- Maintain estimating data, benchmarking, and market intelligence
- Proven experience estimating highways electrical or street lighting projects
- Strong knowledge of highway infrastructure standards and BS7671
- Experience with in term maintenance or infrastructure frameworks
- Commercially astute with strong risk and margin awareness
- Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Conquest, Trimble, Amtech)
- Able to manage multiple tenders under tight deadlines
