Rate: £85 - £110 - Depending on experience

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and high needs in a Secondary school in Watford. Working alongside the class teacher, SENCO, and wider multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering personalised learning, promoting communication and social skills, and supporting emotional regulation in a low-arousal, structured environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex needs.
Provide tailored 1:1 support to pupils in line with their EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) or individual support plan
Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and completing learning tasks.
Support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation using personalised strategies.
Implement behaviour support plans and promote positive behaviour management.
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, LSAs, and therapists to ensure consistent and high-quality support.
Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour.
Support pupils during unstructured times such as play, lunch, and transitions.

Candidate Requirements
Essential:

Experience supporting pupils with Autism or complex SEN in a school setting.
Experience working with KS3 or KS4
Understanding of strategies for supporting communication and sensory needs.
Patient, empathetic, and resilient with excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong teamwork skills and ability to follow guidance from the SENCO/teachers.
Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
Desirable:

Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification.

Experience with PECS, Makaton, visual supports, or sensory strategies.
Training in behaviour management or Team Teach.
