Salary: MPS4 to UPS1 plus TLR's

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Primary SEND Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive Internal Alternative Provision (IAP) within a mainstream primary setting. This is a highly specialist role, working with pupils who present with SEND and SEMH needs, supporting them to re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.

About the Role

As an IAP Teacher, you will work with small groups and individuals with complex needs, delivering a flexible, personalised curriculum tailored to each pupil. Your focus will be on removing barriers to learning, supporting social and emotional development, and helping pupils either reintegrate into mainstream education or transition successfully to specialist provision.

You will work closely with the SENCo, pastoral team, families, and external professionals, adopting a therapeutic, child-centred approach where behaviour is understood as communication.

We Are Looking for Someone Who:

Has experience or a strong interest in working with pupils with SEND and/or SEMH needs
Demonstrates patience, resilience, and emotional intelligence
Is skilled at building trusting, positive relationships with vulnerable pupils
Understands and uses de-escalation and therapeutic behaviour strategies
Is flexible and creative in adapting teaching approaches and curriculum
Believes wholeheartedly that every child can succeed with the right support
Works collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external agencies

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

Teaching pupils in small groups or on a 1:1 basis
Delivering pre-formal and semi-formal learning pathways
Implementing behaviour support plans and individual education plans (IEPs)
Supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing alongside academic progress
Monitoring progress using a range of measures, not just academic data
Planning and supporting reintegration or transition pathways
Working closely with internal and external support services
