About the role/school

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming community primary school in Watford. This SEN Teaching Assistant role is full-time and available to start ASAP, offering an excellent opportunity to support pupils with additional needs in a nurturing environment.

The school is a mixed community primary located on Derby Road in Watford, serving children from early years through to age 11, with both breakfast and after-school club provision. Set within a long-established Victorian building in an urban area, the school reflects a culturally diverse cohort with many languages spoken. As a SEN Teaching Assistant
, you will support the delivery of a broad curriculum within the local authority's education system, with admissions managed by Hertfordshire County Council. A recent regulatory inspection highlighted strengths in pupils' personal development alongside areas for development, making this an exciting time for a proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide targeted support to pupils with SEN as an SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Work one-to-one or in small groups to support learning and emotional development
  • Assist the class teacher with adapting activities and resources
  • Promote inclusion and positive behaviour throughout the school day
  • Support pupils' personal, social, and academic progress as a committed SEN Teaching Assistant
Qualifications/Experience
  • Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role
  • Experience supporting children with additional or special educational needs
  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

    Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service
  • Right to work in the UK
