Dental Nurse

Overview

We have a 9 month maternity cover job opportunity for band 4 qualified dental nurses to work across our HCT sites.

This.

• Maintain high standards of clinical work while carrying out dental nurse duties and provide a high level of care for our cohort group.
• Assist the dental surgeon in the provision of a complete range of NHS dental care, to include treatment under inhalation sedation, general anaesthesia or IV sedation where appropriate.
• Accurately record treatment using the R4 dental electronic system, including charting from the dentist’s instructions at the time of treatment.
• Participate in the annual individual performance review process.
• Carry out other appropriate duties commensurate with the post, e.g. school visits, home visits and epidemiology.
• Work at any of the Special Care Dental Service sites throughout Hertfordshire (Hemel Hempstead, Watford, Cheshunt, Letchworth) to cover staff sickness, annual leave, study leave and other duties when required.
• Sit or stand for varying lengths of time in restricted positions and respond to unexpected changes of the treatment plan, including movement of bulky heavy equipment e.g. hoists.
• Be prepared for occasional direct exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances such as during the treatment of very sick children or patients with challenging behaviour.
• Be vaccinated against COVID‑19 if possible, as this remains the best line of defence against COVID‑19.

• Band 4 qualified dental nurse.
• Registered Dental Nurse (RDN).
• Knowledge of NHS dental system (R4).
