Our client, a leading Civil Engineering and Infrastructure specialist, is seeking Senior Quantity Surveyors to join their team in Watford
Quantity Surveyors play a key role within project delivery teams, supporting day-to-day commercial management across a wide range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. The role focuses on cost control, contractual compliance, risk management, and driving commercial efficiency while supporting business and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Provide accurate and timely cost, value, cash flow, and CVR reporting at project and business unit level.
Manage cost forecasting, budgeting, and commercial planning throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare and submit applications for payment, manage cash recovery, and support final account settlement.
Procure, manage, and commercially administer subcontractors and the wider supply chain.
Administer and manage contracts and subcontracts (including NEC and IChemE forms), ensuring compliance and risk control.
Identify, record, and realise commercial opportunities while mitigating financial and contractual risks.
Liaise with clients, representatives, and third parties on commercial matters, including variations, claims, and change control.
Support project teams by advising on cost management, efficiencies, and best practice.
Forecast expenditure and cash recovery to align with business unit expectations.
Build and maintain effective relationships with the supply chain and key stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with internal commercial processes, governance, and reporting requirements.
Contribute to continuous improvement by reviewing and enhancing commercial processes and procedures.
Required Experiences
Previous experience in the construction industry
Familiarity with IChemE/ NEC forms of contract and knowledge and understanding of Construction Law
Previous experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates, and accruals calculations
Demonstrable experience in monthly forecasting and cost analysis.
Excellent communication, numeric and computer literacy skills, proficient in Microsoft Office
Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines
Desirable
Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards
CSCS card
HND/degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
Demonstrable knowledge and experience in estimation
Experience working for a direct delivery contractor
An engaging communicator with problem-solving skills
