Create animation bringing shame - Volunteer

Overview

The Violence Intervention Project is a violence reduction charity working with young people age 12–25 across W. London. We’re looking for a volunteer to help make an animated video for The Shame Initiative, showing what shame is, how it shows up for young people, why understanding it matters.

For VIP, this video will

• Strengthen our website
• Bring our practice model to life in a compelling, accessible way
• Support the national rollout of The Shame Initiative
• Help position us as a thought leader in shame-informed practice

• Better understanding of youth behaviour
• More humane practice
• Reduced harm and more meaningful engagement

• A strong interest in visual storytelling, animation, or video-based communication
• The ability to translate abstract or emotional concepts (such as shame, identity, or belonging) into clear, engaging visuals
• Reliability and good communication — able to manage your time and keep us updated on progress
• Experience creating animated videos, motion graphics, or short films (professionally, academically, or independently)

Alongside our direct work, we lead The Shame Initiative — a national programme that helps professionals understand shame as a key driver of violence, disengagement, and harmful behaviour.

We want to create a short animated video that explains

• What shame is
• How it sits in the world of young people
• How shame can shape behaviour and identity
• Why recognising and responding to shame differently matters
