We are working with a clean label, natural food company that is looking for a detailed-oriented Corporate Controller to be an integral part of their growing team. This position will take full ownership of all accounting and financial operations for the company, reporting directly to the CEO. Initially serving as a one-person accounting and finance function, this role will lead both day-to-day financial execution and high-level strategic planning.
As the company continues to grow, this position is expected to evolve into building and leading a broader finance team, establishing the structure and processes to support long-term scalability and success.
Location:
Hybrid in New England
- Lead and own all accounting and financial operations, including month-end close, financial reporting, general ledger oversight, and internal controls.
- Deliver accurate, timely financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) while maintaining compliance and coordinating with external CPA partners on tax, audit, and regulatory matters.
- Serve as a strategic financial partner to the CEO and Board, providing monthly performance reviews, insights, and actionable recommendations.
- Drive cash flow forecasting, working capital management, annual budgeting, and rolling forecasts to support operational and growth objectives.
- Monitor KPIs, margins, and operating performance while delivering data-driven analysis to guide pricing, customer profitability, and business decisions.
- Oversee inventory valuation and cost accounting, including COGS analysis, standard vs. actual costing, production variances, and margin optimization within manufacturing operations.
- Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain to improve production efficiency, manage deductions, and enhance profitability across customers and channels.
- Support capital planning and strategic growth initiatives through financial modeling, lender reporting, contract evaluation, and scalable system and infrastructure improvements.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a Controller or lead accounting capacity.
- Proven ability to independently manage a full-cycle accounting function, including month-end close, reporting, and internal controls.
- Strong expertise in inventory management and manufacturing cost accounting, including COGS analysis and margin evaluation.
- Demonstrated experience within food & beverage, natural/organic CPG, or manufacturing environments (required).
- Background working in small to mid-sized, growth-oriented organizations where adaptability and ownership are critical.
- Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting capabilities, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable business insights.
- Proficiency with ERP and accounting systems (Quick Books, Fishbowl, , or similar platforms required).
- Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
- CPA preferred but not required.
- High integrity, strong accountability, and exceptional attention to detail, with comfort operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.
- Ability to balance strategic vision with hands‑on execution, ensuring both long-term growth and short-term business performance.
- Financial acumen, with the ability to analyze P&L statements, ROI by customer, and trade spend effectiveness to drive profitable growth.
