Scion Health offers a role at Watertown Regional Medical Center for a Certified Nursing Assistant (Mental Health Technician). The position is part of the Senior Behavioral Health unit, working nights on a PRN basis.
The Mental Health Technician (MHT) will assist with nursing care of patients within the Senior Behavioral Health unit under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include basic nursing care, assisting patients with activities of daily living, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, and assisting with admission, provision of care, discharge, and transfer of patients. The role supports a patient-centered team, following individual treatment plans and attending to cultural, developmental, and mental status considerations.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
- Handle With Care Behavior Management System (HWC) Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
- Blood Glucose Monitoring Training Program Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
- Current CNA, EMT or LPN certification/license issued by the State of Wisconsin.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Ability to work with several distractions, including light conversations.
- Ability to handle aggressive, hostile, and irrational behaviors of patients.
- Ability to respond immediately in crisis situations concerning patients and/or family members.
