Position Overview
A hospital laboratory in Watertown, NY is seeking an experienced Travel Histotechnologist to support its pathology department. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, dependable, and confident performing all aspects of histology from specimen processing to slide preparation.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry
OR
- HTL certification from a recognized agency
License Requirements
- Histotechnician AAS New York State License required
Experience & Certifications
- Minimum 1 year of recent histology experience
- Strong competency in embedding, cutting, staining, and cytopathology prep
- Ability to follow established protocols with precision
Responsibilities
- Process, embed, cut, and stain surgical and autopsy tissue
- Prepare and stain cytopathology specimens per established procedures
- Manage patient tissue accurately, ensuring proper documentation and chain of custody
- Prepare high‑quality microscopic sections for pathologist review
- Perform specialized histologic techniques as needed for diagnostic purposes
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and participate in the department’s Quality Assurance program
