Evening Shift 7p-730a, weekend, holiday and call required, On call required (Response time of 30 minutes).

The Registered Nurse (RN) Operating Room provides perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe and sterile environment, assisting surgical teams, and ensuring high-quality patient care throughout the operative process.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in the operating room and support surgical procedures in accordance with established nursing standards.
- Prepare and maintain a sterile environment and ensure appropriate use of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Assess patient conditions, monitor responses during procedures, and communicate findings to the surgical team.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary care teams to support safe and efficient surgical care.
- Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery expectations, and postoperative care.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
- May assume charge nurse responsibilities when required.
- BSN required.
- Minimum one year of medical/surgical experience preferred.
- Preceptorship experience, charge nurse experience, and leadership abilities preferred for experienced RNs.
- Strong knowledge of nursing principles and ability to assess and respond to patients' clinical, teaching, mental, and spiritual needs.
- Ability to recognize safety risks and implement proper patient handling techniques, including the use of patient lifts.
- Ability to perform effectively in high-stress situations with strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership abilities with the capability to prioritize tasks and delegate responsibilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of clinical equipment and instrumentation used to maintain a safe and aseptic environment in the Operating Room (OR) or Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU).
- Ability to interpret lethal dysrhythmias.
- 100-mile radius rule applies.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Certifications- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for licensure.
