The Registered Nurse (RN) Operating Room provides perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe and sterile environment, assisting surgical teams, and ensuring high-quality patient care throughout the operative process.

• Provide direct patient care in the operating room and support surgical procedures in accordance with established nursing standards.
• Prepare and maintain a sterile environment and ensure appropriate use of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Assess patient conditions, monitor responses during procedures, and communicate findings to the surgical team.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary care teams to support safe and efficient surgical care.
• Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery expectations, and postoperative care.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
• May assume charge nurse responsibilities when required.

• BSN required.
• Minimum one year of medical/surgical experience preferred.
• Preceptorship experience, charge nurse experience, and leadership abilities preferred for experienced RNs.
• Strong knowledge of nursing principles and ability to assess and respond to patients' clinical, teaching, mental, and spiritual needs.
• Ability to recognize safety risks and implement proper patient handling techniques, including the use of patient lifts.
• Ability to perform effectively in high-stress situations with strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with the capability to prioritize tasks and delegate responsibilities.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of clinical equipment and instrumentation used to maintain a safe and aseptic environment in the Operating Room (OR) or Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU).
• Ability to interpret lethal dysrhythmias.
• 100-mile radius rule applies.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.

Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for licensure.
