Certified Pharmacy Technician

Certified Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens.

Base pay range: $17.50/hr – $21.00/hr.

• Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, following state and federal regulations and Walgreens policies.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• If PTCB certified, assist and coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers in operating pharmacy systems and cash registers.
• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

• Engage customers and patients by greeting and offering assistance with products and services; resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
• Share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
• Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.

• Assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy; review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Enter patient and drug information accurately using pharmacy systems; fill prescriptions through retrieval, counting, and pouring; verify medicines and check for possible interactions.
• Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow, report prescription errors immediately, and adhere to the Quality Improvement Program.
• Adhere to Walgreen Co. policy on Good Faith Dispensing during prescription dispensing.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register, handle cash, and assist customers in the OTC aisle when possible.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, including calls to physicians.
• Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
• Support pharmacy department inventory management: ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments; maintain asset protection knowledge; file claims for overages, shortages, and damages.
• Assist pharmacists with clinical services: collecting and labeling samples, coordinating clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics, and external providers.
• Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing relationships with the local medical community through detailing and outreach to health groups and care facilities.
• Maintain the Pharmacy Department’s appearance and supply levels.
• Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers and complete special assignments as assigned.

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated program; if not certified, obtain certification as a condition for promotion.
• Attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager; acquire continuing education credits; maintain knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy developments.

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Pilot except Puerto Rico)
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Prefer strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
• Prefer good computer skills.
• Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
• Prefer PTCB certification.
