Join Mercy One as the Assistant Program Director, Family Medicine Residency in Waterloo, IA. This full-time, board‑certified/eligible physician role combines teaching, mentoring, and program leadership with generous compensation.
Responsibilities- Provide academic leadership through inpatient and outpatient teaching, and mentor residents in inpatient adult medicine, newborn care (OB optional), outpatient continuity, and procedure clinics.
- Oversee resident performance during clinical rotations and serve as faculty advisor to ~5 residents.
- Deliver 10–12 didactic lectures per year on core Family Medicine topics.
- Lead 1–2 program‑wide quality improvement projects annually.
- Participate in program administration, curriculum development, and faculty meetings.
- Supervise inpatient teaching/service 4 half‑days, resident clinic supervision 2–3 half‑days, procedure clinic 1 half‑day, protected admin time 1 half‑day, conferences 1 half‑day; office call 1:4 with nurse triage (no hospital call); OB practice optional.
- Board‑certified or board‑eligible Family Medicine physician.
- Prefer inpatient clinical experience.
- Strong commitment to resident education and academic excellence.
- EOE; drug screening required.
- Eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
- Starting salary: $260,000+ (commensurate with experience).
- Bonuses: $40,000 starting bonus, $40,000 longevity bonuses (years 1–3), $15,000 relocation allowance.
- $5,000 annual CME allowance.
- Employer‑paid malpractice (including tail coverage).
- Health, dental, vision insurance with shared premiums; short‑term and optional long‑term disability.
- Retirement plans (403(b) & 457(b)).
- Eligible for PSLF.
