Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Waterbury, Connecticut.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Hourly Pay: $25.00 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: up to $700 for each new ASE certification obtained
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
  • Sign‑On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
  • Tool allowance and box allowance
  • Schedule:

    Monday–Friday; weekends off
  • Hours:

    First shift 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
  • Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test and background check with drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
  • Perform preventive maintenance and diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer
  • Identify root cause of failures and perform repairs as required
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
  • Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation
  • Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Perform other support duties as required to support operations
