Maintenance and Custodial Worker

Part‑Time, Non‑Union, Non‑Exempt Position
$16.94 per hour, 25 hours per week
Monday through Friday, 9:00am-2:00pm
Basic Function Of Maintenance & Custodial Worker

• Assist in maintenance and repairs of buildings, including minor repairs, painting, office reconfigurations, and general building upkeep.
• Maintain outdoor facilities and grounds, including routine trash pickup, landscape work, lawn mowing, trimming, weeding, and general clean‑up of parking lots and walkways.
• Perform daily custodial duties, such as dusting, cleaning windows, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, and ensuring restrooms are clean and well‑stocked.
• Set up and breakdown furniture and equipment for events and meetings.
• Move furniture and files as needed, and routinely organize storage and inventory areas.
• Assist in monitoring facilities and grounds for safety hazards, and promptly report/address issues.
• Utilize the agency’s work order system to efficiently log, track, and manage assigned tasks.
• Be available to work early mornings, nights and/or weekends, particularly in adverse weather conditions or emergencies.
• Plan and conduct snow removal and other weather‑related maintenance tasks as needed.
• Open and close buildings as assigned, may include disarming and setting alarm systems.
• Transport agency donations and deliveries as needed.
• Assist in planning and conducting regular inspections and fire drills.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the agency.

High School or G.E.D. preferred

2 years of general maintenance related work experience.

• Basic carpentry and maintenance skills
• Basic math skills
• Solid communication skills
• Basic HVAC skills preferred

Current Connecticut driver’s license, own transportation and current CT required insurance.
