Overall Purpose Of The Job
Adjunct DNP faculty is responsible for facilitating online term‑based nursing courses that meet the quality standards set forth by the accrediting bodies and American Sentinel College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Post University, under the guidance of the Program Chair/Assistant/Associate Dean and the Dean of the Nursing Programs. Additionally, the Adjunct DNP Project Chair facilitates students’ work with the DNP Project process to ensure compliance with accrediting standards and institutional policies.

This position works with the Program Chair/Assistant/Associate Dean of Nursing and Healthcare Programs and the Dean of Nursing and Healthcare Programs to maintain curriculum integrity, promote optimum learning opportunities for students, and foster a rich online learning environment.
Job Knowledge And Experience- Doctoral degree in nursing or related field.
- Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Clinical nursing experience.
- Preferred experience in research methodology and chairing doctoral projects.
- Preparedness for working with students in a collegiate or university setting.
- Unencumbered Registered Nursing License.
- Provide all necessary documentation (curricula vitae, official transcripts, etc.) to support teaching credentials.
- Have complete familiarity with American Sentinel academic policies.
- Review and abide by the Faculty Handbook.
- Participate in regular American Sentinel faculty meetings and other governance activities, when available.
- Participate in American Sentinel or other faculty training programs, when requested.
- Provide updated curriculum vitae and biographical material; agree to their use on American Sentinel websites and other public materials.
- Submit copies of any licenses or certifications annually (or when renewed).
- Report other teaching assignments, research, publications, professional development, or academic activities.
- Advise American Sentinel on general policies and programs to improve student outcomes and school programs, where appropriate.
- Provide timely feedback and maintain commitments as an online institution.
- Support the institution’s service-oriented mission.
- Review the course syllabus and notify American Sentinel of needed corrections or updates.
- Send a welcome message to the first Discussion Forum and Announcement area within at least 3 days prior to the course start date.
- Respond to student inquiries within 24 hours during the week and 48 hours on weekends.
- Grade student assignments within 4 business days of the due date.
- Grade all assignments in the order they are required by the course.
- Participate in weekly discussion forums, posting questions and responding to student posts to encourage debate and reflection.
- Monitor and respond to discussion forum posts at least 4 times per module and per question.
- Submit all grades to American Sentinel College within 96 hours; return final exams/projects within 1 week of receipt.
- Follow the American Sentinel grade appeal process for student complaints.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the Program Chair/Assistant Dean/Dean.
- Review project documents and notify American Sentinel of needed corrections or updates.
- Meet regularly with students to ensure adequate progress on their projects.
- Manage individual students’ project processes in the DNP Workroom, ensuring alignment with AACN guidelines.
- Review project submissions within 10 business days (5 days preferred).
- Respond to student inquiries within 24 hours during the week and 48 hours on weekends.
- Prepare students for Proposal and Final Defenses.
- Assist students in scheduling their Proposal and Final Defenses.
- Attend and actively participate in Proposal and Final Defense sessions.
- Review students’ IRB application for accuracy.
- Assist the student with project implementation and data analysis.
- Perform any additional duties outlined in the DNP Project Guide.
