SUMMARY:
Works under minimal supervision to assist children and others to safely cross the street at assigned intersections during designated hours.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Student Safety
- Assist students and parents in crossing the street safely.
- Report any areas of concern to the campus principal.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
- Utilize effective communication skills; ensure that all interactions are supportive, courteous, and respectful.
Policy and Law
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
- Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
- Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Experience working with children (preferred)
- Knowledge of pedestrian safety rules and vehicular laws
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions
- Ability to identify and respond quickly to traffic safety hazards
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- None
MENTAL/PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
Tools/Equipment Used- Hand-held traffic signs, traffic cones, reflective safety attire
- Prolonged standing
- Constant walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching
- Light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
- Work to be completed on-site from assigned school or building
- Work outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, humidity, and inclement weather)
- Constant exposure to noise and vehicle exhaust; work around moving vehicles and on slippery and uneven surface
- No remote work
- Maintain emotional control under pressure; work with frequent interruption; may work alone
Position Type: Part-Time
Salary: $13.15 to $15.47 Hourly Rate
