All About Assets Protection

Assets Protection (AP) teams function to keep our guests, team, and brand secure and lead through crisis events. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing, and resolving theft and fraud to ensure product is available for our guests. They also build relationships inside and outside of Target, including store leaders and public safety officials, inclusive of law enforcement.

Skills & Experience Offered
  • Skills using intelligence‑led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and secure
  • Experience in crisis response, safety and crowd management; supporting guests and team members
  • Skills in de‑escalation and experience with physical security controls and culture
  • Ability to use Target's video surveillance system
  • Ability to document cases accurately in the case management system
Typical Responsibilities
  • Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests at the front of store.
  • Promote a physical security culture by maintaining safe standards throughout the store, including exterior property.
  • Respond to and document security incidents promptly.
  • Address guest issues to provide a safe environment for team members and guests.
  • Use de‑escalation tactics and resources when responding to incidents.
  • Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and support arrest when needed, strictly adhering to AP policies.
  • Prevent theft and shortage at the front of store through merchandise receipt checks while communicating trends.
  • Submit appropriate documentation in the case management system per policy.
  • Utilize Target's video surveillance system.
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
  • Work safely, comply with safety policies, report hazards, and correct when possible.
  • Perform additional duties as required by business needs.

Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other tech equipment.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment, completing multiple tasks within established time frames.
  • Climb ladders up and down.
  • Apprehend subjects per company policy.
  • Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing duties.
  • Remain mobile during the shift; shifts may vary.
