Job Summary
Set Free Alaska is hiring a Remote Mental Health Clinician to join our award‑winning team. Remote hire available in Alaska, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee or Washington. The clinician delivers direct counseling in a residential setting while maintaining a healthy work‑life balance.

- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field
- Qualified Addiction Professional (QAP) state‑approved continuing education within 1 year of employment
- Experience in substance abuse or mental health field including:
- Delivering direct therapeutic services (group and individual)
- Crisis intervention skills
- Assessments, treatment planning and treatment team participation
- Case management
- Utilization of DSM‑5 and ASAM criteria
- Ability to pass a drug screening and State of Alaska background check
- Adhere to ethical guidelines, maintain current CEU’s for any licensure
- Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills
- Punctuality, consistent reliability, reporting to work
- Team player, motivation, discretion, dependability
- Build rapport with clients and staff while maintaining clear boundaries
- Maintain confidentiality, treat all with dignity and respect
- Proficient computer skills and fluid use of electronic communication tools
- Conduct assessments for substance abuse problems and psychological/ psychiatric disorders utilizing DSM‑5, ICD‑10 and ASAM criteria
- Facilitate treatment groups using approved curricula; orient clients to agency rules and group expectations
- Establish and implement individualized treatment plans; participate in development and review throughout treatment
- Prepare and conduct individual, group and family counseling sessions as needed
- Participate as part of an interdisciplinary team addressing clinical concerns in weekly meetings; provide case conceptualization
- Assist in detecting “at‑risk” clients and developing plans to prevent further deterioration; evaluate crisis situations and apply interventions
- Case management: coordinate care, referrals and collateral involvement to ensure continuity of care
- Ensure timely and accurate clinical documentation of assessments, treatment notes, plan updates and discharge summaries compliant with guidelines
- Collaborate with local agencies:
Department of Corrections, Office of Children’s Services, Therapeutic Courts - Participate in development and evaluation of program curricula; follow SFA policies and procedures for curriculum change approval
