Proven experience with industrial & construction equipment repairs. Millwright/Ironworker’s are responsible for dismantling machinery, transferring equipment, interpreting blueprints, and installing equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Disassemble & reassemble equipment for repair, installation, or transportation.
  • Installation and/or decommissioning of equipment/machinery.
  • Review & interpret engineering specifications, schematics, & blueprints to determine work procedures.
  • Transfer equipment to the applicable site for maintenance to avoid contamination or safety hazards.
  • Use a wide range of hand tools including measuring tools, welding & torch cutting.
  • Determine which machines, techniques, and tools to use when moving and installing equipment.
  • Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures. Dismantle machinery or equipment using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
  • Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Assemble and install equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Construct foundations for machines using hand tools and building materials such as wood cement and steel.
  • Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, and plumb bobs.
  • Assemble machinery and bolts, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to foundations or other structures using hand tools and power tools.
  • May operate engine lathe or milling machine to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
  • Repair and lubricate machinery and equipment.
  • Select cables, ropes, chains, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to load weight and size.
  • Attach loads with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook.
  • Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
  • May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment.
  • May perform all duties of General Laborer, Skilled Laborer, Carpenter, and possibly Electrician.
Physical Requirements
  • Coordinate eye-hand movements.
  • Use hands and fingers to manipulate objects; stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • Climb and maintain body balance on ladders, scaffolding, or high structures; see and hear well.
  • Lift and carry objects up to 100 pounds.
  • Stoop, lay, bend or squat for long periods of time.
