PAINTER

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A Painter performs on-the-job activities pertaining to painting residential and commercial buildings in accordance with company policies, practices and governmental regulations. This includes preparation and painting of interior and exterior walls, ceilings and trim of residential and commercial buildings using brushes, rollers and sprayers.

Painter Responsibilities:

  • Work in a professional, respectful, constructive manner, promoting a safe, positive, productive environment.
  • Responsible for all residential and commercial paint work as assigned.
  • Achieve painting quality as set forth by the PDCA Industry Standards.
  • Apply quality finishes on cabinetry.
  • Install new woodwork on construction or renovation projects.
  • Take precautions to prevent spills, overspray drift.
  • Protect furniture, plants, etc. with drop cloths as necessary.
  • Supervise and train other apprentice painters who may be assigned either full or part time.
  • Inspect completed work and evaluate quality and amount of work accomplished in given time.
  • Estimate material and equipment required for assigned jobs and inform the Project Manager of the same when requested.
  • Accomplish work in a neat workmanlike manner and leave the job site in a clean condition.
  • Ensure that unsafe conditions inside and outside of job sites are corrected or brought to the attention of immediate supervisor.
  • Ensure that current safety procedures as set forth in the Safety Handbook are followed, and that hazardous materials are handled, stored and disposed of in proper fashion.
  • Work safely on ladders up to 32 feet in height, and climb all types of general use ladders.
  • Attend employee meetings as requested by the immediate supervisor in order to keep informed of the latest developments and company issues.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOP)
  • Keep shop in clean, neat, orderly condition.
  • Maintain reasonable care of company property.
  • Maintain proper operation of the paint booth, with air filters changed appropriately.
  • Maintain valid unrestricted WA State drivers license.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Have at least five years experience in interior and exterior residential/commercial painting on multi surfaces to include drywall, masonry, concrete, wood, metal, etc.
  • Two years experience in drywall taping, wall texturing, drywall repairs, etc.
  • Be experienced in use of spray equipment.
  • Have a valid unrestricted Washington Driver's license.
  • Have excellent stamina, as duties require one to move and maneuver material and equipment weighing up to 55 pounds or more.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
  • Ability to communicate in English orally and in writing in a professional manner
