Diesel Mechanic

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience with air brake systems, as well as heavy equipment operation. This role is essential for maintaining the safety and efficiency of our rail operations, ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimally.

Duties

• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of rail vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Troubleshoot and repair air brake systems, ensuring proper functionality and safety.
• Operate heavy machinery as required during maintenance and repair tasks.
• Collaborate with team members to perform preventative maintenance on rail systems.
• Document all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities accurately in compliance with company protocols.
• Follow safety procedures and regulations while working in a fast-paced environment.
• Assist in training new technicians on equipment operation and safety practices.
• Qualifications
  • Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in railroad equipment
  • Experience with rail relay equipment
  • Experience with Surfacing equipment
  • Experience with Tie Gang equipment
  • Familiarity with air brake systems is required; certification is a plus.
  • Experience in heavy equipment operation is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to pass background checks as required by company policies.
  • Military experience is a plus but not mandatory.
