Maintenance Security Coordinator

The purpose of this position is to protect and secure the assets of the Yakama Nation Housing Authority. The position is responsible to assist coordination and evaluation of security operations of the buildings and properties of the Yakama Nation Housing Authority while strictly adhering to and always enforcing all organizational policies and procedures. The security officer is expected to observe and report any emergent, unusual, or prohibited activity to the appropriate authority.

Provides courteous professional services and is cordial to internal and external visitors and/or vendors; conduct oneself in a professional and businesslike manner to reflect the YNHA’s high standard of excellence; use of proper interpersonal skills when dealing with visitors and employees.

Completes daily shift logs and reports any unusual circumstances to the Lead Security Office.

Makes verbal and written reports of incidents, whether criminal, civil, or accidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations; assures completed report is delivered to the desk of Lead Security Office on date of reported incident.

Patrols premise regularly to maintain order and establish presence; monitoring and authorizing entrance of vehicles or people in or around the property; removing wrongdoers or trespassers from the area to ensure safe conditions and prevent crime. Inspects and secures locks and gates; secures entrances and exits to facilities or other assigned areas.

Protect the YNHA’s assets relative to theft, assault, fire, and other safety issues.

Maintains working knowledge of YNHA’s policies and procedures, programs, and safety including emergency response protocol; follow procedures for various initiatives, including fire prevention, property patrol, traffic control and accident investigations.

Responds to emergency situations providing security presence, visitor service, first-aid, and other services as needed.

At all times maintains a professional, positive, productive attitude with visitors and employees. Notifies Lead Security Officer of visitor concerns and may assist in achieving a positive resolution; may intercede in resolving conflicts with unruly visitors; follows procedures for removal of unacceptable visitors.

Must have a positive work history; responsible for maintaining a consistent and regular attendance record; must be able to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays.
