DescriptionThe Territory Account Manager is responsible for developing strong, value‑driven relationships with customers by understanding their business, identifying opportunities, and delivering engineered solutions. This role requires proactive account planning, collaboration across internal teams, and consistent execution of sales strategies to drive growth, profitability, and exceptional customer experience.
Key Responsibilities- Build and maintain strong customer relationships by deeply understanding business drivers, challenges, and opportunities.
- Develop and maintain effective account plans outlining key players, initiatives, and strategies for growth and trusted advisor status.
- Apply solution‑selling and account‑development concepts to drive opportunity identification and pursuit.
- Lead or participate in project pursuit teams, collaborating with inside sales, product specialists, Business Unit teams, and Emerson as needed.
- Create and communicate detailed call reports summarizing discussions, next steps, and action items.
- Provide exceptional customer service across all interactions (in‑person, phone, email, site visits).
- Understand and communicate technical information on product lines including valves, actuators, control systems, regulators, rotating equipment, and related services.
- Participate in industry organizations, customer events, and presentations to expand market awareness.
- Support customer troubleshooting, sizing/selecting products using available tools, and coordinating internal technical resources.
- Identify whitespace opportunities and expand penetration within existing and new accounts.

- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Previous technical, industrial, or sales experience beneficial.
- Strong presentation, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to learn technical product offerings and convey them to customers.
- Proficiency with electronic tools used for product sizing/selection.
- Familiarity with CRM usage and sales process discipline preferred.
Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Mechanical Contractors, OEMs/Fabricators, Food & Beverage, Water/Wastewater, HVAC, EPCs.
Helpful Product KnowledgeControl valves, regulators, pressure relief valves, automated/manual isolation valves, actuators, rotating equipment, and repair services.
Working Conditions- Travel within assigned territory, including overnight trips.
- Carrying laptop and occasional demonstration equipment.
- Customer site visits may require PPE and walking/standing in industrial environments.
On Target Earnings (OTE) for candidates with 1–5 years of experience: $91,000–$118,000 at 100% of goal (65% fixed, 35% variable). For candidates with 5–10 years of industry experience, OTE up to $140,000 (65% fixed, 35% variable). Additional sales accelerator bonus increases higher earnings, capped at 120% of goal. At 120% of goal, employees receive an extra bonus of 50% of their OTE.
- OTE will be determined based on prior work and industry experience, job‑related education, and unique skills.
- Employees eligible for additional incentive compensation, including an annual sales escalation payment and annual profit share payout.
Standard benefit plan includes Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, AD&D, Flexible Spending Accounts, Health Savings Account, 401(k) plan with employer match, Paid Holidays, Paid Time Off (PTO), and a 9‑80 work schedule which provides a three‑day weekend every other week on average.
