Job Summary The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides ambulatory medical, diagnostic and treatment services for child or adult patients with mental health disorders. Work is guided by clinic policies and procedures, quality assurance goals and policies, public and private payor guidelines, diagnostic guidelines, and professional practices and including ethical standards related to client interactions, state and federal licensure and accreditation regulations and guidelines.
PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS includes the following, other duties may be assigned:
- Maintains efficient clinic workflow.
- Assesses client for education needs.
- Client and family regarding health promotion.
- Illness management including disease process.
- Medications, prevention and recognition of complications and self-care.
- Listens to clients and families and offers reassurance and emotional support.
- Respects dignity of client and maintains confidentiality of records and verbal communications.
- Provides telephone triage: relays medication orders to pharmacists, facilitates referrals, and uses assessment skills and clinic protocols to respond to medical questions from clients.
- Maintains accurate patient records. Records care and teaching provided; assessment of client response and / or understanding.
- Maintains health and safety standards within the clinic environment, including quality control, infection control, management of hazardous materials and security.
Job Knowledge & Qualifications
Education
- Master of Science degree from an accredited college/university in Nursing/PMHNP, and Washington State licensure as a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with minimum education as determined and required by the relevant licensing board.
- BLS Required.
- Current DEA registration.
Training And Experience One year minimum of relevant experience as a Nurse Practitioner, providing psychiatric care to adults and children with a mental health diagnosis, preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, standards, practices and techniques related to Psychiatry and nursing.
- Thorough knowledge of the characteristics and precautions to be taken in the administration of psychotropic medication.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques related to individual therapy, counseling practices and risk assessment for the mentally ill.
- Thorough knowledge of individual management guidelines Washington State.
- Thorough knowledge of community resources hospitalization options, treatment providers and other agencies in service to the mentally ill population.

Salary Range - $120,000 - $160,000 / Eligible for a one-time incentive of up to $20,000
