Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery night shift position in an acute care setting, requiring at least 1 year of L&D experience and current WA or compact state RN license.
Responsibilities

• Work in a small acute care Critical Access Hospital (CAH) on the Labor & Delivery unit

• Unit features 2 L&D rooms and utilizes acute care beds for postpartum stays

• Patient ratio is typically 1:1, may occasionally be 1:2, with usually one OB nurse per shift

• Average births per year; high-risk pregnancies are referred out

• Common patient conditions include diabetes, gestational diabetes, advanced maternal age, and women with no prenatal care

• Required to titrate insulin and magnesium drips

• Use of Cerner Community Works EMR and Fetal Link EFM system

• 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a, typically every other weekend required

• Scheduled shifts are generally grouped in blocks and set by scheduler four weeks at a time

• Floating required to Acute Med Surg floor when no OB patients are present

• OB nurses do not circulate in C-sections; primary responsibility is neonatal care post-delivery

• Department provides a one-day unit-specific orientation

• Scrub color is not specified, but clean and professional attire is required

• Holiday coverage may be required as needed

• No nurse aides assigned to L&D; all patient care performed by RNs

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license

• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, NRP, and at least intermediate C-EFM

• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Labor & Delivery, antepartum, and postpartum care

• Experience working on an acute Med Surg floor required

• Ability to titrate drips including insulin and magnesium

• Preferred experience with Cerner Community Works EMR
