Flight Nurse – Life Flight Network

Life Flight Network is a not‑for‑profit air ambulance organization dedicated to safety, excellence, and community impact. As a Flight Nurse you will provide advanced critical care to patients while flying, collaborating closely with Flight Paramedics and pilots.

The Flight Nurse assumes ultimate responsibility for direct patient care during flight, following Life Flight Network guidelines and protocols. You will work with the Flight Paramedic to deliver age‑appropriate care, maintain equipment, and support the safe operation of the aircraft.

• Provide advanced critical care to patients of all ages (Pediatric, Adult, Geriatric) alongside a Flight Paramedic.
• Document patient care accurately according to LFN standards.
• Assist with equipment retrieval, cleaning, restocking, and inventory checks to keep aircraft ready for deployment.
• Ensure safe aircraft operation by enforcing safety policies, assisting the pilot with navigation, take‑off, landing, and in‑flight procedures.
• Participate in business development activities, including community outreach and public education on medical transport.
• Compile statistical data and support projects assigned by the Director of Clinical Operations.
• Maintain equipment functionality and identify required maintenance or supply orders.
• Execute additional duties as required by the Flight Nurse role.

• Minimum of 5 years ICU/ED/Trauma experience within the last 10 years (flight experience may substitute year‑for‑year).
• Current RN license appropriate to the assigned location.
• BLS, ACLS, PHTLS or BTLS, PALS, NRP, TPATC certification, and a CFRN exam taken within one year of hire (certification within two years).
• Preferably Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) before obtaining CFRN.
• Valid driver’s license and at least 3 years of driving experience for drivers.
• Maintain an airport badge (where applicable).
• Passport and/or entry into Canada may be required based on assignment location.
• Compliance with weight restrictions (maximum 250 pounds fully outfitted).
• Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, especially under high‑stress conditions.
• Availability for varied shifts, including fixed‑wing and ambulance call duties.
