- Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to questions and concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at Game Stop.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the POS system, including handling cash, placing merchandise in a bag, providing a receipt, and ensuring top-notch guest service.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
- Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits, such as new title reservations, trade-in, and Pro Rewards.
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations for store associates and training on policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.
- Observe associate performance and provide timely feedback; address unsatisfactory performance as directed.
- Provide recognition and feedback to all store associates, and document performance in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
- In partnership with the Store Manager, ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening or closing shifts; ensure knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention practices, safety, financial protocol, and ethics.
- Schedule store associates in accordance with guidelines; supervise staffing to maintain optimal guest service.
- Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify accurate compensation for time worked.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per company guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
- Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and ship daily.
- Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention practices; inspect packages at closing or end of shift as appropriate; report concerns to the Store Manager.
- Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative duties.
- Perform store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily transactions in the POS system; manage closeout paperwork and deposits according to guidelines.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies and conduct inventories; communicate discrepancies to the Store Manager/District Manager.
- Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately, labeling boxes and packing lists correctly.
- Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety; report injuries promptly per company guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining store records/files; keep manuals up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures and all sections of the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Open and close procedures adherence.
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or a related field preferred.
