Position Summary
A Cardiac Sonographer/Echocardiographer is a credentialed medical professional with academic and clinical experience to use imaging technology to help physicians diagnose heart problems in patients. They operate ultrasound equipment that provides moving 2-D or 3-D images of the heart and its chambers. The scope of practice includes those procedures, acts and processes permitted by law, for which the individual has received education, clinical experience and completed ARDMS- RDCS and/or RVT or CCI- RCS registration, which is the standard of practice in Ultrasound.
Minimum Requirements- High school or equivalent (or higher)
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
- For ECU Health Medical Center, current ARDMS (RDCS or RVT) or CCI (RSC) registration/certification is required.
- For ECU Health community hospitals, ARDMS (RDCS or RVT) or CCI (RSC) registration or must be registry eligible with registration obtained within 18 months of date of hire.
