ResponsibilitiesTeaching assignments generally include classroom, lab, and clinical. Theory is delivered primarily in a face to face environment, but may have an online or hybrid component. Active participation in course/curriculum planning and design, development of student learning outcomes and assessment, and team collaboration for program improvement. Faculty is expected to serve on college committees, advise students, maintain office hours, and fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required.
Minimum QualificationsEducation Requirements:
- Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from a regionally accredited institution with agreement to enroll and complete an accredited MSN program within five years of hire. - The candidate must meet the mandatory NCBON teaching requirement as outlined below:
- Prior to or within the first three years of employment, have education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to faculty assignment. This education may be demonstrated by one of the following: 45 contact hours of Board-approved continuing education courses; a certificate program in nursing education; nine semester hours of graduate course work in adult learning and earning principles;
national certification in nursing education; or documentation of completion of structured, individualized development activities of at least 45 contact hours approved by the Board. Content includes faculty role in curriculum implementation, curricular objectives, assessment, and expectations of student and faculty performance.
Work Experience:

A minimum of two years clinical nursing experience and a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina.
Skills:
- Required:
Excellent oral and written communication. Proficiency with commonly used computer software.
Education:
- Preferred:
Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from a regionally accredited institution.
Work Experience:
- Preferred:
Post-secondary teaching experience. Medical-surgical; long term care or geriatric experience; maternal/peds.
Teaching assignments generally include classroom, lab, and clinical. FLSA:
Exempt. Estimated Hours per Week: 40. Salary: $67,500 - $82,000 (based on college salary plan and experience).
