The ChallengeThe Applications Engineer supports sales, engineering, and end-users by providing technical expertise in abrasive air blast processes, equipment selection, and surface preparation requirements. This role evaluates customer applications, recommends appropriate blasting media, equipment, and process parameters, and ensures proposed solutions meet surface requirements, production targets, and the customers’ the Job to Be Done (JTBD). The Applications Engineer clearly communicate recommendations through proposals and general arrangement (GA) drawings, including presentations when needed.
This position serves as a subject‑matter expert for both manual and automated blasting systems, supporting projects from concept through commissioning.

- Participation in meetings with Clemco and customer teams during opportunity management

- Face to face meetings with customers to define JTBD, and gather technical information
- Willingness to engage in constructive conflict to arrive at win/win solutions.
- Integral part of Project Management team; partner with field sales to prioritize, opportunities and deliver on value propositions.
- Collaborates closely with engineering and manufacturing to align offerings with design build, and strategic standards
Leads cross functional teams and positively influence outcomes positively
Participates in LEAN initiatives within project management and cross functional events.

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
- 3+ years’ experience in a LEAN manufacturing environment preferred
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Ability to read technical specifications
- Experience writing compelling proposals, and estimating costs for custom engineered equipment solutions
- Excellent critical thinking skills, and ability to analyze information from multiple sources.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentations and technical communication
- Understanding of Clemco/abrasive blasting products and surface preparation (preferred)
