POSITION: Maintenance Worker
SALARY: $22.20 - $25.73 per hour, DOE
REPORTS TO: Facility Manager
LOCATION: PSIS, Omak WA
BASIC FUNCTIONS: This is a Non-Exempt position. Working under the direction of the Facility Manager the general maintenance person assists with routine tasks assigned, such as; central heating and cooling systems, domestic water, building security, sewage and sanitation, custodial and janitorial services, fire prevention and protection, safety, radio and telecommunication and related functions including equipment repair and maintenance for the academic, residential and maintenance areas.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Training:
- Requires High school Diploma or equivalent G.E.D, community college and or vocational school degree with study in job related field.
- Requires a current valid Washington State Drivers License
- Requires to and pass a Washington State Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Colville Tribal Background checks
- Requires two years minimum work experience in the following fields: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, general maintenance, custodial, ground keeping.
- Requires to be able to lift fifty pounds (50 lbs)
- Requires to post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug testing.
- Requires to Obtain First Aid/CPR card within 30 days of employment and keep current during employment.
- Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and subordinates.
- Requires the ability to maintain an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and public: providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events for academic and residential areas
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires the ability to helptest, repair, install and maintain facilities and the equipment. Heating and ventilation system, plumbing and sewer system for the academic and residential and maintenance areas.
- Requires to assists with modification to existing facilities and equipment.
- Requires the ability tosee to it that all maintenance vehicles are in good running condition and clean.
- Requires the ability to assist in preventive maintenance program and keep records of all work done. Inspects school and residential facilities for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and identify necessary repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions.
- Requires to assist and help care for all lawns and shrub/bushes/ trees. Caring consists of watering, mowing, pruning, thinning, fertilizing, and grooming.
- Requires to assists with maintenance of all lawnmowers and weed eaters and other tools and equipment used in maintenance.
- Requires to help with purchase of supplies and equipment as needed.
- Requires to assist in a safety program by being a member of a committee.
- Requires ability tohelp move furniture and other equipment as needed for the staff, arrange furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meeting, classrooms and residential activities, athletic events and special events.
- Requires to assist in caring for the fire equipment by inspecting the exit lights and emergency lights, fire extinguishers on a monthly basis.
- Requires to clean assigned school and residential facilities(e.g classrooms offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, grounds, ect.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary safe and attractive environment.
- Requires the ability to repairs furniture and equipment for the purpose of ensuring items are available and in safe working condition. Paints various surfaces as may be required (e.g. walls, celing, ect.). Prepares facility for daily operations (e.gopening gates, building access doors, disarming security systems, etc.)
- Requires ability to stock supplies and equipment (e.g. cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuums, mops, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of the items required to properly maintain the facilities.
Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

Additional RequirementsIn addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment. You must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance.
