Position:
Permanent Maintenance Mechanic 4 (MM4) at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC).
Location:
Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, a 60‑acre site about 40 miles north of the Tri‑Cities. The facility includes a Medium Security Complex with 2,048 beds and a Minimum Security Unit with 480 beds, offering educational, vocational, and self‑help programs.
- Maintain and repair facility mechanical systems.
- Install, maintain, and repair all mechanical equipment, fixtures, and machinery, with knowledge required for plumbing, electrical, welding, machinist work, metal fabrication, carpentry, locking devices, and kitchen equipment.
- Perform welding and metal fabrication throughout the institution (TIG, MIG, and stick/ARC stainless‑steel).
- Inspect buildings, equipment, and fixtures for necessary maintenance.
- Purchase supplies to maintain a proper inventory of essential materials.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
- Assist maintenance supervisors in coordinating multi‑craft assignments.
- Monitor and maintain hydraulic equipment, the high‑pressure steam system in the P building, and the boiler feed‑water program.
- Train and supervise an incarcerated work crew and ensure all inmates complete required safety orientation before work.
- Document inmate hours, disciplinary actions, and maintain accurate payroll and safety records.
- Report work orders in Micromain and maintain preventive maintenance logs and tool control documentation.
- Respond to emergent situations such as snow removal, facility lockdowns, or other unanticipated security situations.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Washington state motor vehicle operator’s license.
- Four years of metal fabrication experience, including oxyacetylene, TIG, MIG, electric, and heliarc welding, fabricating, and cutting.
- Knowledge of shop equipment such as welders, drill press, grinder, band saws, hoists, air tools, and jacks for repair, design, and fabrication.
- Six months experience in a prison, corrections, or law‑enforcement setting.
- One year experience/knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, doors/locks, electrical, electronics, and air compressors.

This position may be allocated for telework from a location within Washington. Employees will be expected to provide reliable internet connectivity and to maintain confidentiality of all information. Employees may be required to commute to a DOC facility or field office as business necessitates.
