What

the Role Delivers

The Shipping Lead plays a critical operational and coordination role within a supply chain organization, bridging warehouse, logistics, production, and customer service functions. Their primary responsibility is to ensure the efficient, accurate, and timely movement of goods — both inbound and outbound — while maintaining compliance with company procedures, safety, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

In order of relative importance

  • Lead daily shipping operations including scheduling, documentation, carrier coordination to ensure orders are on time and in full
  • Coordinate receiving activities, verify inbound documentation, and ensure materials are processed efficiently to support production and customer demand
  • Ensure all shipments meeting company policies, customer requirements, regulatory standards (DOT, OSHA, etc.) and Agro Fresh safety guidelines
  • Partner with logistics providers to secure cost-effective, reliable transportation; monitor on-time delivery performance and address service issues proactively

    Ensure proper system transactions, labeling, cycle counts and record-keeping within SAP to maintain high levels of operational accuracy

This role coordinates with warehouse, procurement, customer service, and carrier partners to maintain an effective and cost-efficient flow of goods through the supply chain.

What the Job Requires
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in shipping, warehouse operations, logistics coordination or similar supply chain functions
  • Experience leading or coordinating teams is preferred
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain one is a plus
What to Have Done and Know How to Do

These skills and experiences are highly desirable; however, they do not preclude exceptions based on an individual’s performance history and demonstrated potential.

  • Strong understanding of domestic and international shipping processes.
  • Knowledge of freight rating, routing, and carrier management.
  • Proficiency in ERP/TMS systems (SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
