Role Summary

The EHR Reporting Specialist will design, build, validate, and maintain clinical and operational reports and dashboards that support decision‑making across the organization. This role requires deep experience with Epic reporting tools, strong SQL development skills, and the ability to create intuitive visualizations in Power BI or other reporting options. The Specialist will partner with clinical leaders, IT, and EHR & Data Governance committees to ensure reports are accurate, secure, and aligned with organizational priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize Epic reporting artifacts including Clarity reports, Caboodle/Kronos extracts, Radar dashboards, and Cogito/Reporting Workbench items where applicable.
  • Write complex SQL queries and stored procedures to extract, transform, and load clinical and operational data from Epic and ancillary databases.
  • Design and publish interactive Power BI dashboards and paginated reports for clinical operations, quality, finance, and executive stakeholders.
  • Validate report logic and data accuracy through systematic testing, reconciliation, and peer review; document validation results and data lineage.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications; lead requirements‑gathering sessions with clinical and administrative teams.
  • Implement performance tuning and indexing strategies to improve query and report performance; monitor report runtimes and usage.
  • Apply data governance, security, and privacy best practices to reporting solutions, ensuring HIPAA compliance and role‑based access controls.
  • Provide end‑user training, create user guides, and offer ongoing support for report consumers; triage and resolve production issues.
  • Participate in project planning, change management, and cross‑functional initiatives to improve reporting workflows and data quality.
Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Public Health, or related field.
  • Experience:

    3+ years of hands‑on experience building reports and dashboards using Epic reporting tools and Power BI.
  • Certification:
    Epic reporting certification(s) such as Reporting Workbench, Clarity, Caboodle, and/or Cogito.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Advanced SQL skills for querying, ETL development, and performance tuning.
  • EHR Knowledge:
    Proven working knowledge of Epic data structures and common reporting sources (Clarity, Caboodle, Chronicles, Cogito).
  • Visualization:
    Demonstrated ability to design clear, user‑focused Power BI reports and implement row‑level security.
  • Communication:
    Strong written and verbal communication skills for translating technical concepts to clinical and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Tools:
    Experience with SQL Server, SSRS, Azure Data Factory, or other ETL/orchestration tools.
  • Healthcare Analytics:
    Familiarity with clinical quality measures, HEDIS, CMS reporting, or population health analytics.
  • Programming:
    Experience with DAX and Power Query (M) for advanced Power BI modeling.
  • Process Improvement:
    Background in Lean, Six Sigma, or analytics‑driven process improvement projects.
