The position is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing equipment and performing mechanical services on new and used equipment in the field. The role engages in face-to-face customer service interactions and is also responsible for housekeeping and properly maintaining company-issued vehicles, tools, and equipment.
Responsibilities- Follow strict safety protocols, using proper PPE as required.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment in the field.
- Complete all required reporting for service time accurately and efficiently, including writing service reports, allocating time to each job, tracking parts charged, and parts returned.
- Maintain customer satisfaction by understanding customer needs and deadlines, and attempt to complete scheduled repairs and service as safely, timely, and accurately as possible.
- Maintain company-issued equipment and tools, keeping them in good working order.
- Adhere to all safety rules and maintain good housekeeping (5S) in the work area.
- Keep customers updated on job status and advise them of any issues or stopping points that may cause delays.
- Carry a company cell phone and be available 24/7.
- High school education or equivalent; technical background from a vocational school in diesel equipment repair.
- 3 to 5 years of mechanical experience with equipment, preferably Caterpillar; strong working knowledge of hydraulics, power‑train, and electrical systems.
- Solid understanding of work‑area metrics and responsibility for improving metrics and results; understands 6 Sigma and applies initiative.
- Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills; can identify problems, solicit opinions, and offer solutions; interprets and applies policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Responds to customer requests with urgency, treating customers as highest priority; keeps commitments and follows through on requests.
- Projects professionalism with internal and external customers, including personal appearance and friendly, courteous treatment of peers, subordinates, and customers.
- CDL required.
