Job Purpose And Summary

The role of a Pharmacy Technician includes supporting pharmacy operations and providing excellent patient experience by following SOPs, ensuring accurate prescription fulfillment, engaging in inventory tasks, and offering immunizations where applicable. Technicians maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, participate in training programs, and collaborate with pharmacists and colleagues to foster a safe and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities
  • Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation.
  • Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation, ensuring safe accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, offering immunization services, and solving patient problems.
  • Complete inventory activities such as medication deliveries and cycle counts.
  • Embrace a growth mindset, seeking feedback and expanding clinical knowledge.
  • Maintain flexible scheduling and readiness to travel within the market as needed.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local regulations and CVS policies, safeguarding patient safety and privacy.
  • Deliver additional patient health services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing) where authorized.
Immunization Support (if applicable)
  • Complete additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
  • Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Monitor and report adverse reactions per public health requirements.
  • Collect and document patient information for immunizations.
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Compliance with state board of pharmacy requirements, which may include age, education, licensure, and certification.
  • If no minimum age is specified by the state board, must be at least 16 years old.
  • If no minimum education is specified, must have a high school diploma, equivalency, or be enrolled in high school.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state (see State Board guidelines).
Essential Functions
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
  • Attention and Focus: concentrate, pivot quickly, confirm prescription accuracy.
  • Customer Service and Team Orientation: look for ways to help, respond to patient reactions.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    verbal, written, active listening.
  • Mathematical Reasoning: calculate tablets, day’s supply, bottle counts.
  • Problem Resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose best course of action.
  • Physical Demands: mobility, lifting, reaching, repetitive finger actions, visual acuity, lifting up to 20 lbs, speaking.
  • Any additional tasks as directed by supervisor or manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
  • Willingness to work in home store and across market locations.
