Position OverviewA manufacturing organization in Washington, IL is seeking a highly skilled Quality Manager to lead its Quality department. The role is responsible for ensuring all customer and internal quality expectations are met, driving continuous improvement, overseeing compliance, and managing the quality team. The ideal candidate has strong leadership capability, deep metrology experience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise the Quality Department, including training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Act as the main point of contact for customer quality issues and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and other teams to ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Provide recommendations on quality equipment, calibration, and process improvements.
- Perform measurement and inspection activities using precision tools and advanced metrology equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings to determine inspection methods and requirements.
- Maintain calibration programs for measurement devices and equipment.
- Prepare quality reports, data charts, and supporting documentation for audits and PPAP submissions.
- Serve as the Management Representative for IATF 16949.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and process capability.
- Bachelor’s degree in a manufacturing, engineering, or technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in a senior quality role within manufacturing.
- Experience programming and operating CMM equipment.
- Strong metrology background, including use of micrometers, calipers, 3D scanners, Faro Arm, optical comparator, etc.
- Six Sigma and Total Quality Management (TQM) experience.
- Supervisory or management experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong leadership and team development abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
- Strong decision-making capability with attention to detail.
- High level of professionalism, urgency, and customer focus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Comfortable working under production deadlines and stress.
