We are Lockheed Martin

Experienced Flying Qualities Engineer to work on a high-performance F-35 flight test team. Contribute directly to timely release of increased capability to a sizable and growing JSF fleet through effective and safe test execution of multiple dedicated flight sciences aircraft. Collaborate and communicate well with test operations personnel, USAF technical leaders, IPT engineers in Fort Worth, and LM Leadership. Represent F-35 ITF (Integrated Test Force) FQ in multi-site and cross-organization technical interchanges and reviews.

Part of a collaborative team that develops FQ test planning documentation and generates test cards. Participate in maneuver development and mission rehearsal simulations. Provide real-time control room monitoring for FQ during test execution. Perform post-flight analyses as needed to support anomaly resolution efforts. Coordinate closely with Flight Sciences Lead Engineer and Flight Science Engineering Manager on issues such as priorities and constraints.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or related STEM discipline.
  • Demonstrated application in flight test.
  • Demonstrated application of MATLAB, Python, or Solid Works.
  • Knowledge of F35 specific systems, flight characteristics, and test program.
  • Aircraft Trim, Linearization, & Simulation (ATLAS) tool skills.
  • Integrated Analysis & Data System (IADS).
Desired Skills
  • Experience building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and driving collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Envelope expansion experience.
  • Experience with IADS real time and test data request post flight test tools.
  • Experience in post flight test data requests and analysis.
  • Experience interfacing with DoD Customers and suppliers.
Security Clearance

Requires a government security clearance. Must be a US Citizen for consideration. Clearance Level: Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years.

Ability to Work Remotely

Onsite Full-time:
The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to paid time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position

4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week.

Pay Rate

The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $89,300 - $157,550. For states not referenced above, the salary range will reflect the candidate’s final work location. This position is incentive plan eligible.
