# Caregiver Prepared on March 2, 2026|  |  || --- | --- || Department | Wellness Center || Reports To | Health Director || Type of Employment | Full-Time || FLSA Status | Non-Exempt || Salary | $19-$26 DOQ |## Summary The Caregiver position is fulltime and is crucial in providing support and improving the quality of life for Shoalwater Bay Tribal members.

It requires compassion, patience, and a strong sense of responsibility. Caregivers will work with tribal members in private residences.##

Job Description ###

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following, other duties may be assigned
* Assisting with daily tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting Bathing and grooming, Helping with dressing and undressing, Toileting and incontinence care, Oral hygiene assistance
* Preparing meals and ensuring proper nutrition for the individual, providing medication reminders, Administering prescribed medications (if certified), Monitoring side effects or unusual reactions
* Perform light housekeeping duties, such as laundry, dishes, cleaning, and organizing to maintain a safe and comfortable living environment for the individual
* Administering medications and monitoring health conditions (if required)
* Accompanying the individual to appointments or outings
* Keeping track of appointments, medications and any changes in health status
* Help clients move safely within their homes or between locations, including transferring from beds, wheelchairs, or vehicles.
* Provide emotional support and engage clients in meaningful activities, such as conversation, hobbies, or light exercise.
* Observe, document, and report changes in clients’ physical or mental health to family members and supervisors promptly.
* Maintain accurate records of care provided and daily activities as per organizational standards.
* Follow care plans and communicate with healthcare providers as needed.
* report if there is reason to believe abuse, abandonment, neglect, or financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult has occurred.
* Complete specialized training programs in dementia care, palliative care, or other relevant fields as needed.
* Compassion and empathy towards individuals with varying care needs
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with clients and their families.
* Patience and adaptability in dealing with unexpected situations
* Physical strength and stamina for assisting with mobility and personal care tasks as needed
* A professional and friendly attitude.
* A willingness to work flexible hours, which may include night shifts.
* Compassionate and empathetic approach to caregiving.
* Ability to handle physical tasks and provide mobility assistance.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Ability to follow care plans and adapt to changing needs.
* Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
* Maintain current, active Washington State licensure, continuing-education requirements, and CPR/BLS certification.
* Adhere to CDC, OSHA, and Washington State Department of Health standards for workplace safety.
* Follow universal precautions and assist with emergency or disaster response as assigned.
* Observe strict patient confidentiality and all HIPAA regulations.
* Collaborate effectively with providers, Wellness Center and Social Services staff,  Health Director and to ensure safe, culturally responsive patient care.
* Answer patient telephone calls and direct them appropriately to providers or nursing staff.
* Perform administrative support duties such as letter writing, faxing, and filing.
* Engage in professional development and continuing education to enhance clinical competence and leadership skills.
* Participate in policy and protocol development, quality assurance, and staff education activities as assigned.
* Perform any additional duties assigned by the Health Director, Social Services Manager or supervising persons that support safe, efficient, and culturally appropriate care delivery.### Supervisory Requirements This position has no supervisory responsibilities.### Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must pass a background check, fingerprinting, pass a preemployment drug screening. They must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Have a current valid unrestricted WA state driver license.  The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.### Experience and Eduction The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, CPR/ First aid certified, Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) licensed with the State of Washington.
