At-Will Employment:
Employment with the Kalispel Tribe of Indians is at-will and can be terminated with or without cause, and with or without notice, at any time, either at the option of the employee or the Kalispel Tribe of Indians. Drug Testing:

All candidates and employees may be subject to a background investigation.
Provides fire prevention and suppression, emergency medical services, rescue, disaster response, and hazardous material mitigation for the purpose of saving lives and protecting property. This position also supports a wide range of department programs as assigned.
Reporting RelationshipsThe Firefighter is assigned a work schedule determined by the Department and reports directly to the Assistant Chief. The Assistant Chief guides the daily work of the firefighter, with the Chief setting overall work priorities and conducting performance evaluations in consultation with the Assistant Chief.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Firefighter performs a combination of emergency and non-emergency duties as follows:
Emergency Duties- Responds to a wide variety of fire incidents such as brush fires, vehicle fire and structure fires.
- Responds to a wide variety of emergency medical incidents. Provides medical care to patients consistent with EMS training and certification.
- Respond to incidents requiring special operations and assist consistent with the level of training as determined by the department.
- Conducts equipment, facility, and apparatus inspections to ensure safety and response readiness.
- Assists with coordinating and preparing a variety of plans, reports, presentations, and records.
- Assists with control issue of occupancy permits and similar licenses.
- Participates in Department/Tribal sponsored public events or activities.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications- Basic knowledge of the Kalispel Tribe of Indians and the reservation.
- Associate degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license and be eligible for automobile insurance.
- Must be able to pass a Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) background check.
- Must successfully pass drug screening and Tribal Gaming Agency Level III background investigation.
- Certified Fire Fighter I (IFSAC or State Equivalent).
- Current Certification as Washington State Emergency Medical Technician (or must be obtained prior to start date)
- Current Wildland Firefighter II
